Areli Hobbs from @yesto_travel is the oldest child of a Mexican immigrant family born with the desire to travel the world. Now as a millennial woman in her 30s she is ready to fulfill the travel dreams she never thought possible, all thanks to leveraging credit card points. Areli works a regular 9-5 and supports her husband while he finishes college and she plans to go back to school herself to be a Registered Nurse. In her first year of points and miles she has already been on three trips using points all while coordinating school schedules and a full time job.
In this episode, Areli and I discuss the illusion of the internet when it comes to points and miles. A lot of the accounts you see online do points as their full time job, or they are working towards that, and the redemptions you see on your Instagram might feel really out of reach. This episode is to remind you that for every crazy Instagrammable redemption you see, there are hundreds of redemptions where someone is just starting out and saving hundreds instead of thousands of dollars, and that is just as magical as a $20k first class flight.
